Description

The BISTRO Burr Grinder crushes beans between stainless steel conical burrs rather than slicing them which preserves bean’s intrinsic flavor and aroma and provides a consistent grind; no sharpening required.

Features

The Bistro Burr Grinder consistently crushes beans between stainless steel conical burrs. This process also preserves the bean’s intrinsic flavor and aroma better than a blade grinder.

Push button, pre-set timer allows users to grind the exact amount of coffee needed, keeping beans fresh and preventing waste.

12 Adjustable grind settings allow users to go from Espresso to French Press with ease.

Equipped with a friction clutch, which protects the grinding gear by the presence of small stones.

Always disconnect the electric burr grinder from the mains before cleaning. The grinding ring, coffee bean container and ground coffee container are removable for fuss-free cleaning. Brush the grinding ring with a soft brush, and use a damp cloth to wipe the coffee bean container and housing. The ground coffee container and lid are dishwasher safe.

Holds up to 7.75 Ounces of Coffee Beans.

We purchased this for a 'replacement', this June 2022. Our previous model [one from another Seller here off Amazon], suddenly 'died' for no apparent reason, just about 2 wks prior to its warranty ending... So this is 'Number 3', for burr-style coffee grinders. As of now, I believe we have finally, FINALLY found a 'burr' which actually works and performs flawlessly - Of this, I've no complaints regarding its performance.Bodum, obviously listened to their consumer base and built accordingly... And it shows. The Bodum mills and produces consistent grounds every time it's used - There's no wasted excess - Coffee grounds DON'T blow out all over the place [machine and your countertop] in usage or upon opening the grind bin - Lot's and lot's of power - AND you can 'fine-tune' your grounds, to just about anything or amount one could possibly image - GREAT!The 'learning curve' with this burr-mill isn't overly steep, nor is it overly 'complicated' - It's really two simplistic adjustments - Your 'time' setting [length time for your grinding] and your 'coarseness' settings [how-coarse-of-grind-you-like] are really all that is required; you can grind for all types of coffee brewing devices out there. For 'clean-up' with this mill, it is pretty straight forward and not to difficult [hey, if a 67+ yr old guy, whom does 'drip' can do it, anyone can...right?]. And alot easier than were our last two burr-mills... A solid 'plus' in my book."Noise-Level" is moderate - Abit noisy, but not overly-so and it is short lived. The Bodum's 'footprint' on the countertop is minimal - It takes up little space and my Wife is a hugh 'countertop-police', if you get my meaning. The 'cost' for this is abit more than many other 'burr-mills' here off Amazon - HOWEVER, with my AMAZON 'refund' [thank you, Amazon] regarding the last mill, it made the purchase of the Bodum less 'painful'. Although, if I were to do this 'mill-thing' all over again, I would have spent the monies outright and just gone ahead and bought the Bodum [better quality-support], as opposed to the previous two burr-mill-grinders... Which were totally 'junk' and ZERO customer support - It would have been money well spent.BEST:Grinds well - Lots of power - NO static-buildup with the glass grind bin [no coffee grounds everywhere]- Easy clean - Easy controls - Power cord storage - Large bean hopper [if used for storage]-CON:Perhaps pricing [for cost-conscious-buyers] -I'll come back and re-address this Bodum, at some later date and time, in 6 mos or so.If you are looking for a 'burr-style-coffee-grinder/mill', you might want to give this one serious consideration. EDBLove this machine. We prefer burr grinders and have bought 2 of the Cuisinart burr grinders and both have failed after about a year. I swore off Cuisinart so I figured I would pay up for a better grinder and found this Bodum. I've only had it a month so not sure about how easy it is to clean. But I like this way better than the Cuisinart burr grinders. The Cuisinart grinder was so loud while the Bodum just hums along while grinding. I also like the glass catch basin for the grounds, as opposed to the cheap plastic catch basin on the Cuisinart. I don't know how to describe it but it's just a feeling that this is a real quality grinder. You know when you are touching/using something and it is high quality and when something is a piece of junk (you just know). The Bodum Bistro Burr Grinder is a quality burr grinder. After you waste your money on 2 Cuisinart burr grinders (like I did) you'll step up to a quality grinder like the Bodum Bistro Burr Grinder.I have researched these things for hours before deciding to buy this unit. Here are my findings:There are three units that were in the running (ordered by price):a. Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder (the unit on this page and the one I ultimately bought and am very happy with) - $89.99b. Overall, I'm pleased with this grinder, which is far better than blade grinders I've owned. This Bodum unit grinds the coffee beans very consistently, is relatively quiet and I like the automatic timer, so I don't have to measure the coffee when putting it in the pot's filter. My only issue is that after a week of daily use, excess coffee grounds starting clogging up inside and fly out onto the counter, creating a mess. However, this is easily fixed in just a few minutes by taking the unit apart and cleaning everything with a brush, such as a toothbrush or makeup foundation brush. Here's a cleaning TIP I saw on YouTube: After cleaning and reassembling the unit, grind 2-3 tablespoons of Minute Rice through it. The rice kernels do a great job of cleaning out any remaining grounds around the burr gears. I imagine this trick would work for any burr grinder.Using as a daily grinder the first week it performed as expected but within the next few weeks the grind started getting inconsistent which is a shame because this grinder is very convenient. I had purchased this machine while it was on sale and I would still recommend it just because it's easy to use and very easy to clean.Edit July 12th : I've dropped the rating to a 1 star because now the grinder has stopped grinding the proper amount entirely and is not consistent at all even after cleaning.Sorry but this grinder is no good. My wife and I have been using this 2-3 times a day since July but it just broke inside the assembly that attaches the hopper to the grinder. The white plastic piece snapped in half adjusting the grind and it all fell apart when I attempted to clean it. The whole thing feels pretty cheaply made overall...wouldn’t recommend this one:(Overall, I love the performance of this grinder. It grinds the coffee very finely with much less noise than my previous Oster burr grinder. The glass ground coffee container affords less static electricity meaning there is very little coffee stuck to the sides. However, I have taken a star off because the Bodum Bistro could become the ideal grinder if they would make the bean hopper out of glass (not plastic), increase the hopper capacity and change the hopper lid to a more user friendly design. It is very difficult to seal the hopper lid without pressing down VERY FIRMLY and frankly, I'm apprehensive about pushing too hard and breaking the plastic hopper. Are you listening Bodum???
