This is my second TIMEMORE burr grinder. They're not a 'household name' as a brand but they can make grinders like nobody's business. I had one for my kitchen and wanted one for my office. This is such an awesome little grinder. If you've never used a hand crank burr grinder read the instructions before you start. The settings interface was a bit non-intuitive at first when I got my other TIMEMORE grinder but that's just because I didn't read the instructions. The instructions for everything are clear and concise and most importantly they actually work.Coffee aficionados have always maintained that burr grinders are vastly superior to blade grinders. There are several reasons for this, but the most important is the quality and consistency of the grind. Blade grinders offer little of the control you'll find in a burr grinder. Basically, you push a button and the blades obliterate anything in its path. Like throwing a tomato into a big industrial fan. That's why you'll often see half chopped beans in the grounds and that's not a good thing. Inconsistency in the size of the grind will result in different sized grounds and different sized grounds will brew at different rates. That makes for inconsistent--and often bitter--coffee.Burr grinders offer the ability to get a consistent, precision grind which enables you to adjust the size of the grounds. This is important for 'fine tuning' the grind for the best flavor since every coffee varietal and espresso machine is different. Burr grinders are also extremely durable and their burrs will stay sharp much longer than blades. With that tutorial out of the way--this is a great little grinder. Once I had the presence of mind to read the instructions and figured out how to set the grind size properly it was a piece of cake to use. You take off the bottom part of the container to access the settings dial. Once you adjust it, you put it back on and then remove the top and put in your beans. Replace the top and start grinding. The result is a perfectly sized grind. In my experience, one load of beans was enough for a double shot of espresso. It's sort of deceiving--it doesn't look like much when you first open the bottom container but I tested it twice and at least with my machine one load = two shots. The grinder is handsome in a utilitarian sort of way and feels incredibly durable. It comes with a storage bag and a cleaning brush. The handle folds in for easier storage and transport. As noted above, the instructions are very clear and concise.Just in case you're wondering, you're *way* better off getting this hand crank burr grinder than even the best electric blade grinder. You'll earn the respect and admiration of the community for the high quality of your coffee using this grinder. This is a superb grinder that is easy to use and portable. Very strong recommendation on this one!
