Is easy to use, the settings for the type of grind are easy to set. It isn't really that noisy, and the cup that holds the ground coffee is easy to clean and wash. Very happy with this grinderI use this with my French Press. And the coffee is great. When I bought this grinder there were no reviews, and I purchased it based on experience with The adjustments for granularity and quantity are good. Both need to be adjusted for individual choice. Quantity offers considerably more coffee than I use, setting on 4 of 12 for a 14 cup carafe. A lot depends on coffee characteristics and personal taste but I suggest you start with half what the front dial suggests for number of cups and then probably adjust down from there. My only complaint and the reason I will replace this grinder is the MESS. When I first unpacked the KRUPS GVX212 Coffee Grinder I was quite please with the build quality. I set it on the counter next to the Cuisinart coffee maker and after a some time my wife requested that I pay a little more attention to the grinding, transfer of grounds from the grinder, to the coffee filter of the Cuisinart operation of my 14 cup carafe daily requirement. I make 1 to 2 carafes a day, apparently the attention I was paying: carefully adding the beans to the reservoir, pressing the grind button... removing the catch container and " Oh my gosh, grounds hanging off everywhere" . I initially placed a paper towel under the grinder, finally had to put it in a plastic bin just to control where and how far the mess would stretch. Present paper towel is to highlight the coffee grounds. you cannot remove and transfer the coffee grounds without a mess. see photosThis is my first burr grinder, so I really have no comparison, but still I'll share my experience.I bought this grinder because my old blade grinder died and I like my coffee. All the coffee snob websites (yes, I'm a coffee snob) say that burr grinding is the way to go because blade grinders heat the beans while grinding and this affects the taste. So, since the old one died, I decided to try the burr. Plus, I use a french press at times, so I wanted to be able to grind coarsely to minimize the sludginess in the bottom of my cup (not that I mind it terribly). So, I started using this on coarse setting for my french press. My experience with the coffee, though, was that my sludge factor wasn't lessened over my blade grinder, which I surmise to mean that I'm not getting consistent particle size (still generating fines on coarse setting). Further, I can't taste the difference between burr grinded coffee and blade grinded coffee. So, take that for what it's worth. The unit is messy. Coffee sticks in the bottom bin because of static, which isn't a huge deal, but the discharge from the machine to the bin also contains coffee which falls out on the counter when you remove the plastic bin. cleanup is sort of a pain inside the grinder itself. They say to wipe with a damp cloth and they give you a little brush to brush the little gears. You need a brush with coarser bristles to really get the coffee out, and still, there are remnants of coffee in there that I just can't get out. Maybe I'm overly concerned about cleanliness, but it bothers me.This thing is next to worthless for finer grinds (I'd say anything significantly shy of 25%, towards the fine end). The beans seem to just cease entering the grinder periodically. Then you have to turn it off, unplug it, remove the bottom bin and dump out the beans and put them back in again (or shake the unit) to get it to start grinding again. The beans come out looking pretty finely ground, but it's just aggravating trying to get it to grind the whole batch. This happens on almost every grind on the fine setting and even periodically on the coarser settings...which makes the preset for the amount of coffee (take note, 1 cup = 1.5 tbsp coffee) pointless, because you have to turn it off in the middle to clear the jam.I know you get what you pay for and this is really far down on the price scale for burr grinders. Still, I would expect it to work over it's full range of operations. If you really want a burr grinder, you probably need to invest in a better model (if you want fine grind, at least). But honestly, for just everyday coffee grinding for a normal drip pot (or even a french press) the blade grinders available for half the price seem to perform just as well as this and the cleanup is far easier.Purchased this to replace the built in grinder on our coffee machine, this works better than the built in grinder ever did..Simple controls, trouble free performance and good outcome.Once type of grind and quantity selected it gets on with the task quietly and automatically. We have been using it on a daily basis for weeks and is now a very reliable unit in our kitchen.Good value. We recommend it to anyone.Works well, with nice selection of grinds and volumesI read all the reviews on the different grinders, and was a little worried by some of the trouble other people mentioned. There was an other web site that also reviewed this grinder and gave it an overall positive review (other than the sound). Since I have had this grinder (about 2 months), I have enjoyed my coffee more, and understand now why the other reviews complained about this appliance; they did not really understand what they were able to do with this device. I will buy another if I need one. I found the grind for my expresso to be finer than I needed it, and was able to dial back the grind.Great machine for the money. Everything you need to grind coffee beans.
