My thanks to other reviewers -- whose comments regarding the wide selection of coffee mills enabled me to make the fortunate selection of the I purchased my grinder 6 years and have used it daily since. I have been very satisfied with the quality and evenness of the grind. After about 4 years of use, I noticed that sometimes it seemed to slip a bit with the volume of beans I was grinding, and the final measurement was off. I considered buying a new grinder at the time, but never did. After a few weeks, the issue seemed to resolved itself. And then a few days ago I dropped it while cleaning the counter - it wasn't a long drop, just a foot to the counter, but it hit in a bad way, knocked the cylinder out, and cracked an essential piece off, and now it doesn't properly fit so won't operate. So, I purchased a pound of pre-ground beans to contemplate my next purchase. Will I buy the same unit again? The price is right. I think it's an excellent value for a burr grinder. Some people have complained about cleaning, and I agree that it's a bit messy - gets loose grinds on the counter. It's hard to pour the ground's neatly into the brewing receptacle too. But the complaints I have seen for some about having to clean out the internal pieces or it gets gummed up are not at all true for me. I have not once, in 6 years, cleaned out any of the internal mechanisms of the grinder, and I have never had a problem. Likewise, I store beans in the drum - I fill it full, do a fresh grind each time I make coffee, repeat until empty, and the fill the whole drum again. With my level of coffee drinking, it takes about 5 days to grind the whole drum, and I have no concerns about flavor differences between storing in the drum vs. in the coffee bag or a coffee cannister (I use both for the remaining supply). And the precision is excellent. I use two settings; a fine ground when I do a pour over coffee 3 times a week when I head to the pool for a morning workout. I do the largest possible course grind the rest of the week for my French press coffee. I'm very satisfied with both. Settings are easy to use.So yes, I will be buying the exact same grinder a second time. Will this one last 6 years or longer? I just have to be careful not to drop it.I bought this as a replacement for our burr grinder that finally died after 10 years. While the grind quality of this unit is great, and it is the quietest grinder I've ever used, the unit has simply stopped working after 2 months of daily use. I will be contacting the manufacturer to see about a replacement. Also, Canadian clients beware of warranty limitations "JURA Inc. warranties apply to the United States of America only. Products used outside the United States of America must be returned to the US at the owner’s expense. Shipping expenses, duties and any other charges occurring with sending a repaired or replaced product back to the owner, outside of the US, are the liability of the owner."Works well, I’m currently buzzing my tatties off on a caffeine fulled high!I bought this grinder 2 years ago after bringing home 16 lbs of fabulous beans from Costa Rica. My first disappointment was that the company DOES NOT honour their warranty if you live in Canada, American only. I found that as mentioned in a previous review, that there does seem to be quite a bit of a mess due to static, it sticks everywhere, on the container and counter. If I ground enough beans to fill the container the grounds would fall in behind the receiving container although the grind was good. The grinder did require cleaning the burr regularly.. After 1 1/2 yrs of use the grinder does not grind as well as it used to and it won't stay at a course grind, I have to turn it finer to work. Needless to say I am shopping for new grinder. I will now spend more and get a better grinder, you get what you pay for.It looks great. It's pretty quiet considering the job it's doing. The only complaint I really have is what a mess it makes and how much ground coffee it wastes. No matter how you try to discharge the static it generates while grinding or how much you tap and bang it to get it to "let go" of all the coffee grounds, they fly around when you pull the bin out of it and the amount that subsequently falls from the upper chamber into the product's base while you're emptying the bin is RIDICULOUS.I ground about 750ml of grounds which was probably about 4 max timer sets, and I would say that the amount of waste was 3-4 tablespoons (45-60ml). Between 5 and 10%, and by the way - a lot of that flies all over the place. After using this product you need to sweep and wipe down everything in the area. I've tried putting a cookie sheet under it and while that catches most of it, there's always a good amount that makes it onto the counter top and floor due to the static it throws off.I will live with it, but if it should stop functioning at some point I will not be buying another one of these. We've had this grinder for about three months now. It grinds coffee consistently and evenly. The internal mechanism seems very sturdy. Overall we love it.However ;The spring loaded "timer" is something out of a fisher price toy. For maybe five dollars more they could have built in an electronic precise timer. For me, in 2020, a mechanical spring loaded relay timer requiring a couple of assembled parts is an aberration compared to what is available. The only way to stop midway through a grind is to unscrew the top assembly. Thus screwing up your brewing settings. The only practical way I found is to unplug it and wait for the spring timer to run its course. Unacceptable in 2020. (Using an electronic timer would solve this.)Plastics feel cheap and the printing on the plastic feels like it would fade after a few cleaning cycles.Again this is a very low end machine from a high end brand. Only a few inexpensive design adjustments could vastly improve it. ...And make it sell like hotcakes !Because overall, I would buy this again. Love the grind, love the coffee brewed from the freshly ground beans. It's a great introduction to much better coffee.
